Sasha Burshteyn is a poet.


Her poetry appears in The Baffler, The Yale Review, The Paris Review Daily, Copper Nickel, and elsewhere. 

She currently serves as the Translations Editor at Four Way Review. Starting September 2025, she is a Visiting Scholar at the Jordan Center for the Advanced Study of Russia at New York University. She is also a 2025 Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowship finalist.

Sasha received her MFA from NYU, where she was a Goldwater Fellow and Translations Editor at the Washington Square Review. She was a 2022 winner of the 92Y Discovery Contest. 

In 2018, she lived and worked in eastern Europe, where she developed documentary poems about the Seven Natural Wonders of Ukraine with support from National Geographic.

In 2016-2017, she was a Thomas J. Watson Fellow. She spent her fellowship year talking with people about social upheaval in Ireland, South Africa, India, Georgia, and Guatemala.

Sasha was born in Russia and raised in Brooklyn and Donbas.
